I agreee totally...Metallica couldve written that album in 6 mth
tops..i mean 5 years to write mediocre songs..when they only took maybe

Yes, but this could be said of a number of artists who are
still around. Deep Purple, Skynyrd, Sabbath, Priest (they have
reformed). I still think it's a greed and ego thing.

Hmmmmmm........ being an avid listener of many jazz artists and a
big time DT fan I can certainly see alot of Jazz influence and style
    in DT music.

    Hi all!!!
Mike=I truly enjoyed your comments!!I'm using this address 'cause dummy 'ol me deleted
the 'jams 'cause I was in a hurry this am. I found several of your points very well
done, and you made a hell of alot of sense in a sensless world!! Yes, I, as you've
noticed, am in a profession that allows me to see all the sides of life, from the really
prosperous to the rather poor. I see an awful lot of folx who don't take the time to
smell a flower or look at the sky, and I'm saddened when they don't feel that they have
the time to notice a sunset.
I, like several of us here on the 'jam feel that although monetarily poor, feel
extremely wealthy with friends and family. Yes, I bitch about income and "job" like
everyone else, but to be fairly honest, I'm a pretty happy gal. Sure, I wish I was able
to purchase the CD's you make, but thats an impossibility at this time. I do enjoy the
folx here on the 'jam. I actually feel like I've opened up a whole new world of friends,
both here and on the NMS. I've found more info that I ever thought possible about all
    sorts of things!!
Thanks for your thoughts!! again I enjoyed them quite a bit!!

This is to Jen who was asking about the WDADU US stuff. I actually have 5 versions of WDADU..One is on vinyl which went for around $30 at a show. The other is on tape which I scroungeda near $4 for at a used tape place. Then I have 3 versions to the CD. One is the 89 US version, which I am told wasn't around a lot. An imported version released by Mechanic later, in France or/and Germany, and the One Way version released in 96. The difference isn't a lot. THE 89 US-The spine is in red/white/blue. with Mechanic mentioned first. THE Import-Just a red/blue spine with DT mentioned first One Way-Cheap version, no insides, Blue/white spine. Anyone looking for boots, you may find something you don't have at http://www.execpc.com/~surfdog/dt.html I am also looking for the Vinyl to Images as well, if anyone has any info where I can get it. I know of it's existance. Keep Jammin'!!!! AND GET TEST FOR ECHO on Tuesday!!!! :)

It is a jazz fusion school.. i mean i have the brochure and thats basically it also they teach gospel and studio engineerin stuff (this im not sure) its basically jazz..thats why during the awake tour dt's jams were mostly jazz based.. cuz now with derek all the musical piece of the band is from berklee..

Alrighty, Kids. I think were getting a tad out of hand here.

David Letterman's show is a pop act, my friends. Have you ever noticed the bands on there all have little catchy singles? There's a reason for this@! David likes to stay in the norm, and Dream Theater, for however much we like them, isn't the norm. Let's look at it from David's side: what would _HE_ get out of it? Let's face it, not a whole lot of people know of Dream Theater. The crowd may not be a crowd that can accept a "Dream Theater" type of band. The band itsself may not want this. Do they want to be in the spotlight like that and be in front of 10 million people? It's quite a lot for us to be saying to them "Yeah!@!# Go up and play!@" but it's a lot different when _YOU_ have to be the one doing it.

Also remember that the bands being played on Letterman are SUPPORTING something, usually an album. Dream Theater isn't supporting an album...yet. <a side note, i know, but an important one>

Keeping all this in mind, i don't think it would be appropiate for the Theater to play Letterman at this time. Hey, that's just my opinion.

He had them on how many times? Were they supporting "Youthanasia?" Were they on tour? Did they have a catchy little single to play? Is Megadeath well known? Is Dream Theater well known?

The last couple of jams have been great. I have a few notes tho. I'll do them in the order they appeared.

WildKoba, THANK YOU for that info. A buddy of mine just moved to Chino Hills and he needs a way to meet some musician friends. The Vai thing is not only a dream to him, but an excellent opportunity. I am going to have to make sure he tapes it.

Symphony X for $40?!?! I know someone who knows Michael Romeo. Mail me. I may be able to get you a copy at a reasonable price. No tacked on fees by me... if at all possible, I'm going to get you hooked up with whatever ordering info he has for US fans.

Thanks for the Sieges Even review. I'll be buying that.

I just realized that there are DT fans who haven't been willing to take a risk on Fates Warning's newer albums. What a world.

Finally, I want to publicly thank Mike Bahr for his posts. Needless to say, Mike really said a mouthful.

Let's see; Black Sabbath, KISS, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Yes and Judas Priest are all bands that have tribute cd's and still make new music (Judas Priest have a new singer and are working on an album last I heard). Thanks to Magna Carta, there will be even more tribute discs to come.

Ray's a great Manager! in just two years he managed to break up Van Halen and possibly break up Extreme also by bringing Gary in as the VH's new singer. Maybe he should change his name to YOKO. Although since Alex Van Halen and his wife are divorcing, maybe Ray will quit as the VH manager now that Alex is his EX son-in-law.

Emailing Letterman is a great idea. One which I believe was discussed here a few months ago. Personally what I think we should do is wait until there is a release date for the new album and then do a mass email to him. There's no reason to do it now because DT has nothing to promote. Save the lateshow email address and then in January we can do a ytse-mailing and get our favorite band some notional exposure.
