Rush appears to be going strong because an album is over the
horizon....keep in mind....that Yes has reunited with Howe and Wakeman
...and although it pains me to see Trevor gone.....the new lineup WILL
kick the group into high gear again....
Regardless of Rush's present status.....a tribute album is all it is....a
tribute album...... It's a very immature stance to take on Rush's
    part...and that's what I'm fighting.....I don't care whether or not Rush
can or will do what ever they want in the musical arena...thats
irrelevant.....What makes this disturbing is that Rush is treating this
tribute through the eyes of an immature, selfish, and whinning baby! I
still cant shake the idea of the phrase in Spirit of the Radio.....what
    hypocrits!!

Wow...now I *AM* feeling old and Im only 27! SIGNALS was the LAST Rush
album I ever bought (aside from Chronicles which is compilation) and I
listened to them for years....2112 was my first Rush album. I guess I just
got into other stuff after Signals, and at the time I didn't like their
new direction. I love everything from the first album (RUSH) up to SIGNALS
though. I bought 2112 when I was about 11 or 12 years old (somewhere around
1979 or 80)...I was never the same after that!

Actually the members of Dream Theater found out that we wanted to do a
tribute to them and they were pissed off. They did not want us to tribute
them. They are currently in a legal battle against ytsejammers (the label
that is manufacturing the tribute CD). Dream Theater has already banned
the CD in Long Island, but fortunately it will be sold in other parts of
the United States. I've called many music stores and none of them even
knew about the tribute. I just hope Dream Theater doesn't go too far with
one. I really want to get a copy of this.

BTW, this post was just a joke for the humor deficient jammers out there.

Hello again, everyone!!! I'm now settled (mostly) in Sunny Southern
California (they left out a few verbs when they started calling it that) and
caught up on e'mail. The drive out there from Oklahoma was not half as bad as
I expected, but the dirt in the apartment was MUCH worse!! :P

Anyway, first things first. As most of you are probably aware, I did some
serious foot sucking just before I took off in regard to Kevin Moore and the
MMTBH project. I did Kevin the injustice of quoting him out of context and
without his permission as well as implying that AirDance was carrying out the
project against his wishes. She has already posted a lengthy message clearing
her end of this, but I feel it necessary to say, in public, that I was wrong
and overstepped my bounds. What has (or has not) transpired in private mail
since this incident does not relieve me of this responsibility.

My initial intention was NOT to create tension between anyone, and the
original post wasn't really about either of these people but an honest
question addressed to the wrong forum.

Jennifer and Kevin: I apologise to BOTH of you and give my word that I will
NEVER chew my toes like this again. Best wishes to you both and may Fate
    treat you well!!

    Sincerely,
    Susan Ostroske

Yes. Here's the track list for MIND CONTROL:

    CD1:
    1 Pull Me Under
    2 6:00
    3 Take the Time
    4 Caught in a Web
5 Lifting Shadows Off a Dream
    6 The Mirror - Lie

    CD2:
    1 Another Day
    2 Erotomania
    3 Voices
    4 The Silent Man
    5 Matropolis Part 1
    BONUS TRACKS:
    6 Tears
    7 The Silent Man

And speaking of MIND CONTROL, can anyone tell me anything about "Tears"? I've
never heard of it anywhere except on this disk... is it a remake or what?

Ooh. Not that you were ripped or anything, but the local Best Buy has
it new for about $16.99 or something like that (figuring it's the same

First, a cool DT sighting. One of my close friends in my building works
at the Ben and Jerry's plant in Waterbury, VT. Apparently, they have
this cable radio thing hooked up there. Anyway, she gets home today, and
comes to my room and says, "Can I play something on your stereo?" I say
ok because I'm not really listening to anything in particular. So, what
should I hear but "Caught in a Web"? Mind you, this girl is very nice
but has *no* taste in music. So, I'm like, WTF? When the song gets to
the chorus, she says, "Yeah, that's it! That's the song I heard at work
today!" "You recognized it?" I said. "Well, yeah! You play it all the
    time!" :)

Anyway, this part is IMPORTANT. Anybody that is still looking for
transportation and/or sleeping arrangements for the YtseCon, e-mail me.
I know people that are looking to carpool and save on trans and lodging
costs. If we can hook up some jammers with some other jammers -
particularly in the Southeast - things will be cool.

Again, if you are looking for transportation - or cheaper transportation
than what you have lined up now - or an economical sleeping arrangement
for the Ytsecon, e-mail me and we'll see what we can do to pair people up.

Also, NYC/LI area Jammers - if you think you can offer some nice Jammers
some extra beds or rarely-used floor space, let me know, too. That
system worked very well at Con II, and it's a friendly gesture that lets
    Jammers meet and stuff.

That's all for now. Party on. :)

Okay well maybe not from the dead but at least from a long period of not
messing much with email and worst of all the jam!!! Now I am the type of
guy who hates excuses. Actions speak louder htan words if you know hwat I
mean so I won't bore you guys with the reasons why I have been gone so long,
    I'll just tell that "I'm back..." :)

No really, for those of you who I haven't talked to in forever (Jeff Chew,
Digital, Mike Bahr, Skadz, Brian Wherry, bafu, Paul Cashman, Elliot Kim,
Magical, Heath, Mike Bradley, Damn I know there are dozens more of you I
just can't think right now) its good again to talk to you!!

Those of you who I have never met, I hope to meet you at the YtseCon III.
Also to those of you I don't know, my name is Trey Allen. (Cool name huh???
Hehe!! Gee, I'm in a weird mood...) I used to be very active in the jam.
Actually I headed up the last YtseCon, YtseCon II(duh, I guess that was
obvious...) But for stupid reasons like work, and other commitments I
stopped having time for the jam or really email in general.

Anyway, I am back and thats all that really matters...
Now for a couple things... One some of you may have noticed that my email
has changed from tallen@junix.ju.edu to tallen@cybermax.net.
THe other account is still active but won't be after September so everyone
please adjust this if need be...

Also I am plannig to go to YtseCon III but I need help!!!!! My best freind
and I Brandon will be going again just like last year. But we want to
split the costs more than 2 ways... I will be going on anothe big trip the
following weekend and will be spending around $300 on htat one so I can
hardly aford anything on this one...

SO WE ARE LOOKING FOR ABOUT 2 PEOPLE TO EITHER PICK UP AND TAKE, OR MEET UP
AND RIDE WITH TO THE GLORIOUS YTSECON III.

WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO LODGE US WHILE UP THERE. LAST YEAR WE
STAYED WITH ANDY ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHERS AND YOU CAN ASK HIM, WE DIDN'T
STEAL ANYTHING SO YOU CAN TRUST US!!!

But I really need some help! Wether or not i can find someone to help us
out here decides wether or not Brandon and I go.

MY ETERNAL FATE IS IN YOUR HANDS MY FREINDS!!! DON'T LET ME DOWN!!!

That's actually the only fault I find with Castronovo's performance...that
missing ride pattern. When I first heard the orginal YYZ, I thought that
pattern was beatiful, exactly what that part needed. Hearing Castronovo's
version, that part sounds a little lifeless now. Other than that, I
thought he did GREAT!!! I get the impression that he doesn't play for any
band in particular, he just goes from one gig to another (played for Ozzy
    at one point).

Red Barchetta was probably the biggest disappointment for me on the CD. I
was hoping that Reinert would come up with some radically different
phrasings that I could contrast with the original. Instead, his
performance matches Peart's almost note-for-note, more than any of the
other tracks on the CD. Come to think of it, I guess doing it that way
could also be thought of as a personal tribute. (You know, like "The
drumming on this song is so sublime, there's no way I'm gonna change
    anything about it.")

That show struck me as a bit on the dull side. I watched about 5 or 6
episodes (including the one about the Japanese takeover and the monkey in
the manager's office, I kinda liked that one) and didn't really laugh at
too many of the jokes. The PBS station I was watching (in Chicago) also
sometimes followed that one with the comedy "Keeping Up Appearances,"
which I thought was pretty boring. The original poster mentioned Fawlty
    Towers. Now, that's hilarious shit!!!!
I think I'm gonna get a roast beef sandwich with chutney and chili sauce
    now.

    Hi!

I was watching a Video tape I recently received in the mail, and lo and
behold there is a interview from 1979 with the band (That perm of Alex's
just sent chills through my spine, I HAD one of those), and the thing where
Geddy talks about changing their writing from Hem to PW is on there, so I
wanted to give it exactly as Geddy said it.

" ...also, due to the fact that Hemispheres took us so long to do, took so
much out of us; it was a real draining album to do. We had sort of taken
that conceptual thing to its limit for the time being and we all felt that
we would like to work on shorter pieces that wouldn't be that involved."

And there you have it, it's up to your interpretation what it means.

    "In the year 2000, Bob Dole will celebrate his 77th Birthday in the Oval Office;
then the White House security guards spot him and send him back to his tour
    party."
