I hear high praise for SUPERIOR and since I have not heard their CD Beyond (costs $27 mail order) I
    emailed Bernd Basmer about rumors of US release. His reply;

    >>I just phoned NOISE a few minutes ago
    >>and they told me that they didn't know when (and even IF) the record
    >>will be released in the USA. I thought that was clear. They'll release
    >>it here in Europe and in Japan first. So it can take a little time 'til
    >>it appears in the USA too.

Perhaps NOISE needs alittle encouragement?! NOISE ia a great label for metal and some prog metal,
    they'll probably come through!

    Cheers, Kevin D.

    a) Hey Brian, what ws that about condensing posts again??
    b) >I agree. I think that his screams are irritating live, and he tends to

really? I'd say this happens on studio stuff too....for example, in PMU,
    this is what I sing/hear....

I'll take seven lives for one
and then my only father's son
    LA LA LA LA-La-La-LA-La-LA
    I am not afraid......

it's been 4 years since i got into DT, and i still don't know what
Mr. LaBrie says in that line
                                partha
p.s. TFE might be better (for me) than moving pictures....i'll get back to
you folks on that score in about three weeks, after the initial glow has
    worn off.........

Yeah, but if you had told me 10 years ago that someday Metallica would be a
dumbass trend.....I would have said you had a severe case of
    cranial-sphincter inversion. :)

Well, "Chasing Time" is a greatest hits album, so there's a lot of different
quality material on it. Personally, I love it, but to each his own. To get a
recent feel for Fates Warning, I'd recommend listening to the album
"Parallels". If you don't like that one either, I think you can effectively
cross them off your "gotta have" list. :)

I don't mind thos "embellishments" if they're written into the song, but I
really resent them when they're thrown in for no apparent reason.

Actually, I just hate them in the national anthem, but that's me. Does it
irritate the piss out of anyone else when people do this? I can just see
Francis Scott Key saying "Yeah. That's *exactly* what that song needed!" :)

So we're back to the old "DreamNDay vs. Damon" Jam again, are we ?
    What's next ? ASCII-wars ? A *nice* religion thread ? Christ ! ;-)

Since we can all predict who will be the nr. 1 and nr. 2 posters,
I won't be sending in any more "Most Frequent Poster"-lists from
now on... I don't want people competing over the nr. 1 stop (again).

AFAIK, there are about 750 Ytsejammers... Does it seem right if only
two guys take up half the bandwidth ? I don't think so. I'm sorry if
I sound BItchy, but I'm neither amused nor impressed...

First off, do yourself a favor and get off AOL. Get a local ISP.
Second, Yes, you DID buy the worst album for someone not yet into
Fates. Here's the deal: They have matured. They had Jon Arch (who
I dig) on a couple of songs on there, and his voices is REALLY high.
Makes James look like Glen Benton. If you can find no redeeming
quality to any of the songs, then you won't like Fates, but if you
like songs like Monument or the Eleventh Hour (I believe those are on
there) buy Fates albums: Parallels, and Inside Out. Give the disk
you have a couple more listens. They are a great band.

Ivanhoe: AWESOME. Up and coming. They are still growing up
    musically tho.
Iced Earth: Cool, but not prog really.
Mastermind: SUCKS! At least Mastermind III Blows hard. Live they
    are supposed to be better.
    > It's probably rather hard to find these
    > days, I got mine used.
(Regarding Al DiMeola, Paco, John, Live in San Fran)
I got mine recently at a Best Buy. I should qualify that... I got my
NEW copy there. I had it on tape, but I just bought the gold master
version. It's still in print and easy to find.

    > I think I figured it out. James shows off in the wrong ways (and showing off

    > kind of improvisational stuff on studio recordings too.

First off, (Watch Ben start to sweat figuring I'm gonna flame him
again, and that he'll have to get his panties in a bunch again) I
think James does TONS of "schtuff" live and on the recordings. But
you must also remember the genre of music that the two record in.
Mariah is R&B/Pop. That's part of what sells... those smooth many
octave "ooh woo"'s. James has to be a Metal singer to target his
audience best. Many people only put up with him because the band is
so great. I love his vocals just the way they are. If he needs to
do anything it's develope his low range more.

    > there's one question that I'd like the an-
    > swer to: WHAT IS PROGRESSIVE MUSIC ???
I tried to answer that on my web page. www.prognosis.com
Still way under construction, not a fraction of what I plan to put up
there, but when you're working full time and going to school 16
credit hours... some things have to wait.

    Chris

PS WTF is all this trash about Metallica? Did ANYONE read the
posting rules? If it's Prog or DT related in ANY WAY, it's a valid
and usually interesting post... but I don't care who the fuck
replaces who in Alternicca. Jason is the second cheesiest bassist
ever. The first is Cliff. Flame me personally, not on the jam.

Any jammers going to the G3 show at the Hollywood Bowl on October 12? They
added Kenny Wayne Shepherd to the bill; it should be an outstanding show. Any

But I think a majority of the people that are listening to "Top 40" alternative do so because it is "Top 40". It's a fad. I know Green Day had fans before Dookie. just scraped up Workin Man! 11 bucks, woohoo. anyways since everyones already hit the down and dirty on everything the only comment i have is that i think Devin kicked some ass. a tribute is done by people and bands who the band being tributed have inspired... thats why as far as i can see it they should play the songs, but still do their own thing.. its a way of showing how the band has contributed to their own style they have developed... if the point of the record was to make it sound like rush you might as well go buy some old rush albums and hear the real stuff... just fun differences :)

HELL'S YEAH! Demanufacture rules. (BTW I was the one who brought up G//Z/R, and for that specific reason-Fear Factory kicks ass!). I would describe it as progressive industrial death metal. Progressive in the sense only that it has somewhat of a progressive feel to me. No solos or 20 minute songs or odd time sigs, just real original. And if you like FF, I'd have to introduce you to my cousin's band. The whole band has a lot of talent, and the singer sounds a lot like Burton (The screaming AND the singing).

Whoa! Anyone else get unsubbed from Ytsejam and subscribed somehow to the DreamNDay&Damon mailing list?

Here's a new idea... read the jam... THEN post. Not post while yer reading. That way we can have one solid content-packed message from ya instead of little tid bits here and there. Just a suggestion. Rock On.

Hey, I just heard on the radio in St. Louis (K-SHE 95) that the Oct. 31 date for the Rush tour is happening at the Kiel Center. I believe tickets for it go on sale Sept. 21 (though I may be wrong on that part). I'll very likely be there. Have a nice day...
