    Kent,

I don't think you can. I used to think people just had their head up their
yazoos when they would try to unsubscribe to the jam, then I tried three
separate times to unsubscribe EXACTLY as shown in the letter that's sent out
when you subscribe, and it hasn't worked yet. I would just stay in digest
mode and delete it when it comes in.

I hope NOISE wises up and gets Behind released here in the USA before the
market gets flooded with dubbed copies and then it would make it that much
harder to sell. Superior is such an awesome band that everyone deserves to
hear them. Oh, sorry Chris, I guess I shouldn't express an opinion. ;)

Hey, is anybody out there going to G3 (Vai, Johnson & Satriani)? I'm in
Montreal, so if anybody close to home wants to go to Toronto for the show,
email me and we'll hook up. I already have a friend with me, so there's at
max 3 places in the car. I don't have tickets yet but I'm keeping my eyes
peeled for tour dates. I've calculated an approximate date: in between the
26th and the 28th of August. I have no idea where it's gonna be, so if
    anyone knows, please tell me!

    Cheers,

i'm from jersey and the beacon theater is just a hop skip and a jump
from me. plus, the dates are the 2 days following my b-day and if it's
a cool band, i just may have to treat myself to a birthday present.

    Greetings all jammers-
Once again, as the college grind starts up, so does the need for
more music....I am VERY happy to report, we all have one hell of a year to
    look forward to.

First thing being first, I'll start by saying that I can't wait to
see the G3 tour (anyone know when they're going to Minneapolis???). I'm stoked.

Secondly, I want to reveal my undying devotion to the new Rush
effort. What a pleasure to know that Rush indeed isn't dead, and that I
have a BUNCH of good Rush shows to see soon!!!

THird. Lemur Voice "Insights" (Magna Carta). Now, I know there are
a few (if not more) skeptics when the topic of Magna Carta comes up. As far
as I'm concerned, Magna Carta is just as important to Prog Rock (in the
90's) as Dream Theater is. Now, in terms of Lemur Voice, these guys know
WHAT'S GOING ON!! I can't really find a problem with their music. PROG
METAL. DOUBLE BASS. GREAT HARMONIES. GREAT GUITAR. GREAT Vocals. Great
lyrics. Oh fuck, this means they're Dream Theater. NO IT DOENS'T. These
are contenders for the heavy weight prog masters award. Believe you me, if
you can afford it, afford it. Donate Plasma. Donate Sperm. Donate a major
organ. THey sound <somewhat> similar to Arch-era Fates (vox especially),
and like any great prog band at other times. I love it.

    THANKS DAVE FOR SUGGESTING THIS!!!!!

Um, what else can I say. Phish is going on tour in a few months. Catch
them even if you barely even like them. I GUARENTEE you will have a great
time. Bring some ganja along to the show, and watch 4 sickeningly talented
musicians just JAM out. If free form jams and crazy good times are your
bag, go. It's an experience, not a show. Phish are definately deserving of
some recognition, just because they are doing something that hasn't been
done (Not even the Dead could do what Phish is doing. Going to Gamehendge?)

Well, I'll stop for now. But, hey, have a good night.

That's what I've been thinking. I've had a chance to listen to it twice
straight thru, and I have to admit I have a hard time separating one tune
from another. The first real change of pace comes in "Resist", which is the

He was in top form this time.

Well sheeit. I guess I've been corrupted by MTV. I have never once heard
anyone on MTV say: "Emotional vocals are scratchy." Have you? Who cares
what MTV feeds you...it's if you're willing to eat it that matters.

MTV will play what they think will sell, yes....but, I'll say what I've said
a few times before: the majority of people really, genuinely do LIKE what
sells, in the same way that we like Dream Theater. An argument that an
alternative fan could give about their music of choice would be just as good
as an argument that we could give about our music of choice because it's
ONLY A MATTER OF PERSONAL TASTE.

One damned cool thing about James live is that you KNOW he's having fun.
Watch LiT...during To Live Forever I think it is, he's spinning around and
running across the stage behind JP headbanging away. Now who would do stuff
like that if they weren't into it? It almost seems like his running around
everywhere makes the vocals a little shakier....hard to sing and run. I
can't even walk and chew gum. :) I mean, how awesome is a job where you get
    paid for having fun?

    >(coming from an unfortunate soul
    >that has yet to see DT in concert).

    Yeah, join the club. :-(

    >But some bands try to capitalize on the popular style of the
    >day, Oasis,

I like Oasis' music...but MAN that singer guy is a DICK!!!!

    >Mad Puppet - ? on this one

I don't CARE what they sound like...how can you go wrong with a band called..

                                    MAD PUPPET!!!

    >I don't know how anyone can say there is a lack of emotion ... Voices and
    >Surrounded _STILL_ make the hair on the back of my neck stand up they are
    >so well performed...I believe they call that a freeson (frieson, sp?)
    >experience...
    >

I said Awake was better.....and I didn't say EVERYTHING was like that.
                    So...so.....so poo on you!

    >I'll take seven lives for one
    >and then my only father's son
    >LA LA LA LA-La-La-LA-La-LA
    >I am not afraid......

Awww. That one's easy. "As sure as I did ever love him..." I just always get
it mixed up...."As sure as ever did I love him..." or "As sure as did I ever
love him" or "the llama ate the red sweater cheeseburger"...you know. :)

    >Yeah, but if you had told me 10 years ago that someday Metallica would be a
    >dumbass trend.....I would have said you had a severe case of
    >cranial-sphincter inversion. :)

Believe you me...I know very few people that like Metallica.

    >Subject: I suck, you suck

..we all suck for I suck? :-)

    >> Sweeping generalizations suck big one.
    >
    >Ben, don't you mean "ALL sweeping generalizations suck big one?"
    >
    >Duh...your statement WAS a generalization. :)

Yes, but mine is undoubtedly facticious. :)

    >Many people only put up with him because the band is
    >so great. I love his vocals just the way they are. If he needs to
    >do anything it's develope his low range more.

Not so much develop it....just USE it. Sounds great in Lie. "I had gotten
used to being a soul destroyed..."

    >Jason is the second cheesiest bassist
    >ever. The first is Cliff. Flame me personally, not on the jam.

Apparently you haven't heard me play bass. :-)

    >It hit me. It's on Danzig 4.

    Egads....Brian caught the Kurt "Reply-to-your-own-post-with-one-line" virus. :-)

    >So sue me! I heard that we needed a little competition for the most posts, so
    >here we go again! Seriously, I haven't done this in a while, and its not
    >gonna last too long, so bear with me!

Well....if getting the top slot really means that much to you...you're
    weirder than I thought. :)

    >I didn't say they were! I know there are people smarter than me that listen
    >to that stuff. But I think a majority of the people that are listening to
    >"Top 40" alternative do so because it is "Top 40".

You weren't resubbed yet when I mentioned that, for some people music isn't
a high enough priority to really LISTEN to it. So, for those people, since
they don't care enough (which isn't really Wrong) to buy lots of CD's, the
radio and MTV is all they hear. So, when MTV stops playing something, they
    forget about them.

    >It's a fad. I know Green
    >Day had fans before Dookie. And in a couple of years, those will probably be
    >their only fans again because people will be like "You like GREEN DAY? They
    >went out in 97", so all of the fucking posers will stop likeing them because
    >it's not "cool" to like them anymore. Am I making sense?

    Yeah...but it's not an "i'm too dumb to know what I like" thing...it's a
"i'm not a big music fan, so I'll just listen to what's on the radio thing".

"Closer" by NIN makes me feel like I'm just waking up. Is that wrong? :)
