Hi there to all the jammers around,

I just want to thank all the people who are buying our new CD "Insights", it
is released by Magna Carta in the states, as far as I know it will also be
released in Australia so the guy who asked for it can get the album also there.
I would like to receive some personal reactions on the CD, for us that is
very cool so we know how the album is doing and we also know then how many
people would like it or not.
People who want to respond to me about Lemur Voice or Working Man please
    E-mail me at:

    mcoenen@cobweb.nl

Some other request, I am looking for instructional books from the
shrapnel-guitarists like Ron Thal, Derek Taylor, Scott Stine, and others
from that caliber. Does anyone know how to get that or some instructional
    video's or other stuff.
I really would appreciate it when I could get some of that stuff.

I am really glad that there is a lot of talking about Lemur Voice on the
ytsejam, I am also a big DT-fan, I met up with John Petrucci and Mike
Portnoy once during a clinic in Holland ('s-Hertogenbosch), I have given
them a demotape of AURA (this is Lemur Voice, just our old name) so I am
very curious what they will think about us, If anyone from DT is reading
this please mail me your comments, I will truly appreciate it.

For the dutch people who are on the list:

    Our concert dates:

15 september - Bachelorclub, Ell (near Weert)
                            Free, begins at 19:00.
    06 oktober - Fenix, Sittard
7,50 (dutch guildens), begins at 21:00.
    17 januari - Blokhut Rotterdam
I don't know the price, but I guess it will be in
    the evening.

We are also looking for a manager or management who will take care of us,
maybe if someone is interested or if someones knows a good management please
    mail me the address.

Again thanks a lot and I love you all.

    Hi gang.

Does anyone know if there are any Lemur Voice sound clips available on the net? I'd like to check them out. I've heard a few clips of Superior and I love them!! Can I get this CD in the US or is it only available as an import? I'd like to avoid paying $20+ for it.

New Rush - I like it. The music is all very good but I don't know whats going on with the lyrics. "put your message in a modem and throw it in the Cyber-sea"??? What the hell is that?!?! Rush shouldn't be singing about modems!!! JEEZ!!!! Neil should be writing about trolls and stuff. :) My favorites are Totem and Half the World. The music to Virtuality kicks arse but the lyrics kinda ruin it. The instrumental, Rush-Limbo, just seems to be a waste of space. It wanders around and never gets anywhere. I dig the cover art!!! That stone guy rules! I hope I can get a poster with that on it!!

Any idea when tickets go on sale for the Rush show in DC????

I just got my stuff from the DT fan club!! Thanks Neil!! That ACOS sticker rules!!!! I don't wanna stick it on anything since I only have the one. Does anyone know where I could get some more? Any word on the idea of the band making a special recording for Fan Club members as a Christmas present? That would rule!

One of my favorite albums of the year is Jars of Clay. Certainly not DT but these young guys can write a hell of a good song. The song that received some airplay, Flood, is one of my least favorites. You should check out the album to hear all of the rest of the songs. All the songs are very unique and interesting - no reason to hit the skip button hear. I think they have an official web page. Check there and see if you can hear some sound clips! You'll be glad you did!

What?? The Miami Dolphins have a running game, a defense AND Dan Marino?!?! Look out NFL!! Good luck to my Phins!!!

    See ya all later!

    Hey all:

Just saw some comments on some people's first impressions of DT. I first heard IAW and fell asleep to it the first night I listened to it. I have an unusual knack of falling asleep to heavy music at times. I guess the long instrumentals in IAW really helps to relax me. At first, I thought Wait for Sleep and LTL were one continuous song. After listening to IAW for several months straight, I REALLY latched onto it, and it's become probably my favorite album of all time.

Naturally, I couldn't wait until Awake came out. When I first heard it, I too was disappointed, for I really enjoyed the smoothness and melodic tone of Labrie's voice on IAW. However, I LOVED 6:00, the first song I heard. Of course, being a drummer, I LOVE Mike's drumming in that song - truly incredible. I was also pretty disappointed at the number of "ordinary" songs compared to IAW. You know - the primarily 4/4 combos of Innocence Faded, Voices, Silent Man, Lifting Shadows, Space Dye Vest. I thought they had gone more main stream, and still believe so to a certain extent. Also, I didn't really like Lie much, but it has it's place in life now (when someone pisses you off!). But, I initially got Awake on cassette, and missed out on the BEST song of Awake: Scarred. Once I got the CD with Scarred, then Awake was complete for me, and I realize how excellent it is. After a while, too, I got used to Labrie's harsher vocals, and it also has its place, too. Still though, IAW will be my favorite. First impressions never cease to amaze me!

So the local BU rag was aglow the other day because Dave Letterman, who hasn't done that many shows out of NYC, decided to do his first stop on a 5 day tour at the BU TSAI center. And this got me to daydreaming of course... ahhh to see Dream Theater on the BU Campus, not less than 1 block from where you work. It was a very nice dream.

Got TfE the other day. People are dead on. It is a good album, not a great album, but a good album. It all sounds a lot of the same stuff, and I do not really like that that much. Now I'm waiting for some money to go look for that new Lemur Voice disc that everyone is talkin about.

    Dear jammers,

Hey there! Here's an update for the YtseCon III! First of all, it will take place at the La Guardia Marriot (Queens, NY), on Saturday, October 12th from 1pm to 5pm. We have spoken to Dream Theater and management, and they say that there is a good chance that they will be there.

The cost for pre-paid tickets is $20 per person. The cost at the door will be $25 per person. This will cover the cost of the conference room and other miscellaneous stuff (name tags, programs, etc.). If you would like to pay in advance, please send a check to:

YtseCon III c/o Jeff Chew 350 Broadway, Suite 703 New York, NY 10013

When you send a check, please include a note or letter that says your name, return address, e-mail address, and phone number. This makes things a lot easier for us when we send the tickets back to you, plus if we ever need to get in contact with you.

Due to the lack of reservations, we have decided to return the block of 75 rooms to the Marriot. So, we have arranged it so that you can contact the Marriot through their 800 number. If you need a room, call the La Guardia Marriot at 1-800-882-1043. *REMEMBER TO TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE GOING TO THE "DREAM THEATER CONVENTION"*. The deadline to reserve a room is October 4th. If you need to find someone to split a room with, the staff is still doing that (well, Greg is), so you can contact him at grc8@columbia.edu.

If you plan on flying to the YtseCon III, we have arranged something with Rich Worldwide Travel so you can reserve airline tickets through them by calling their 800 number. Please call 1-800-431-1130, and tell them that you are going to the 'Dream Theater Convention'.

If you can provide a ride to the YtseCon III, or if you are in need of a ride, please contact me by either e-mailing me or calling me and I will see what I can do.

Syrinx gave me the idea of writing up a list of paid tickets. If you sent out a check to me and you're not on the list, let me know! IT could be either lost in the mail or it didn't get to me yet. Well, here goes:

1N - One night reserved at the Marriot (these are only the ones that were sent to me rather than directly to the Marriot)

2N - Two nights reserved at the MArriot

    R - Providing rides L - Providing a place to stay Paid:

It's not looking very good so far, and I really need the money to put the deposit on the conference room, so I'd prefer if you guys sent me the money ahead of time rather than paying more at the door. That's it for now. If there are any mistakes, e-mail me! I'll talk to you soon!

Well, just thought I'd fill you all in on what's happening, since the Jammers are really the only netters that know who I am...

So far, no law enforcement agency of any kind has even entered the picture. This is both a relief and a curiosity... what are they waiting for? Do they even know what they're doing? My guess is "no".

Some agency called the IAS or something like that, which only monitors copyright violations in the music industry, is "looking into it". They've asked a few questions of the local CD company that contracts my manufacturing, and were told that I was just a consignment/commission worker who hadn't known what he was working with this time around. So far they haven't contacted me directly at all, all I get is hear-say from the mfring plant. I do know that I'm in a whole lot less danger if I can get proof that the entire run was destroyed... that not a single CD could ever have been _distributed_. We'll see about that monday.

To Damon, and other well-wishers, glad to have you all behind me. I did, however, break the law... pretty flagrantly too. If I get nailed right to the wall, it will be no less than I expected if I ever got caught. Here's hoping it doesn't come to that. I can safely say that DT is the "biggest" band I'll EVER do a CD of in the future. We'll just have to cross our fingers...

    Hi jammers,

The most recent GW has got me steamed. I have subscribed for about three years, and I have found something to like in every issue. So, I get the new issue, and I notice that Cobain is on the cover. Has anyone noticed that there have been THREE Cobain feature stories since he died? What new stuff could there possibly be to report?

Then I look for Petrucci's column. It turns out Eric Johnson has taken over wild stringdom again. I love EJ, but he can't hold a candle to JP's teaching prowess. Even the B.B. King column is weak.

Then I turn to the reviews. I see that TFE is being reviewed. They gave Rush a good review, but they gave Geddy all the credit for the lyrics. News flash, just because a singer sings the words, it doesn't mean that he wrote the lyrics. I don't have TFE yet, so I don't know if Geddy wrote the lyrics or not, but my most educated guess says that Peart wrote the lyrics. Does anyone read the freaking credits anymore?

I know you've heard about GW's downfalls before, but I just had to blow off some steam.

    Later, Cory
