Who else has this same taste? I know that I certainly do and I am looking
for some bands that are in the same area. All you guys love DT but it seems
that people get subdivided (ha) into groups when it comes to other prog/metal
bands. Any of these fit into the closer to SG than Magellan or Marillon
(yuck)? Fates Warning, Clockwork, King's X, and Crimson Glory? Anyone,
    anyone??

    Jammers,

I have been gone the whole summer and came back for the school year.

All I can say is Dividing by zero--is this great bandwidth? (FLAMES)

everyone who is in question--here is the solution once and for all--go ask
a math (or physics) Prof. or teacher, "What is the definition of dividing
by zero?" And you will get an answer.

Take it from someone who is doing a lot of math and physics: Dividing by
zero is undefined. Try to do it on a TI-85 and you will see that you get
an error. For those who are saying infinity, then you are answering a new
question. You are taking the LIMIT of a number as it goes to zero which
is infinity. However, dividing by zero and taking the limit of a number
    are two completely different things.

However, don't take my word for it if you don't believe me--go and ask a
teacher or something, or better yet--TAKE A CALCULUS CLASS--then you will
find out what a limit is.

Sorry to talk so much about something I said isn't boring, but I am
getting tired of seeing this and people getting dividing by zero and
limits screwed up. End it--GO ASK SOMEONE!!!!

    Thank You,
    Ryan Benedict

    >be *one*... A/A = 1/1 <-- A=0 Nevermind...

    try to reverse the situation.

    x / 0 = infinity

    infinity * 0 = x

    doesn't sound right? it isn't.

    lim x
          --- = infinity
    n->0 n

looks kinda lame in ascii, but is closer to the truth. the definition
says that "dividing by zero results in indefinity".

by the way, zero is not an infinitely small number. they draw a
definite line between numbers being *almost* zero and zero itself.
(just as numbers you ever studied all that limes stuff? the n value
in the equation above can be as close to zero as it gets, but it can
    never be zero.

i am not that wise myself, i asked a friend of mine who's studied
    math seemingly forever. :-)

    just to clear it up.

Ok. I just got the "Working Man" cd in the mail from CDNOW! The biggest problem I have with it is...who is this Mike Baker guy? My personal opinion is that he butchered "The Trees"..and I LOVE that tune! I was a little ummmm...unsure about Mark Slaughter...he did well...maybe it was just weird hearing that voice again after all these years since the last Slaughter album. :) Also...who is Devin Townsend? Jammin' voice he's got! And last...who is Gregoor van der loo?

When did the quality of a band and the music that they made have to do with how much airplay they got on eMpTyV? When's the last time I heard something from DT? About a minute ago. Having only just subscribed to YTSEJAM, I firstly need to know if their are any other Australian DT fans already part of this list. Basically if you are reading this message and off a computer screen that's located somewhere in the continent of Australia, then let me know. I don't know of any DT fans in my local area (Gold Coast, about 100km's south of Brisbane, QLD). I know there are other DT fans in Australia, who else is responsible for the DT CD's disappearing from my local record store ? Aussie DT fans; let me know at.....s1042724@iplabs.ins.gu.edu.au

Next, for all YTSEJAMMERS out there, as you know I'm from Australia and as far as I know, one of only a handful who know of and appreciate DT's music (even though I've only known of them for about 6 months) Why they are somewhat totally unheard of to the majority of the Aus. population is a mystery. Up until now I have just passed it off as the fact that their music complexity and undeniable skill, blah, blah, blah...(you've heard it all before) cannot be tolerated by the music crowds whom are responsible for the swamping of the dance/techno and alernative/grunge groups all over the commercial music scene.

But now I think that if given a chance, DT could really take off here in Aus., recieving support from ALL types of listeners. I truly feel that DT's music stands head and shoulders above "what's popular" these days. My question to you, well it's more of a plee, is to help me on my mission to expose DT to Australia, give me inspiration and ideas that will allow me to well and truly establish DT's presence here in Australia. All people whom I have given DT demonstrations to have been exceptionally impressed with them. Convincing people of their talent shouldn't be to hard, exposing it will be. They NEVER get any airplay over here (not since I've been listening to them), and radio DJ's taking requests don't usually have any of their music. Apart from driving around screaming promotional propaganda from my car window (which I have done on occasions) I can't think of what else to do. People don't need it thrust in their face, they need to hear it for themselves and develop their own liking for DT's music (they WILL LIKE IT!) In your most humble YTSE-opinions, what songs do you feel would initiate their success in an "un-DT-exposed" environment.

I you can think of anything to I could possibly do within or outside the confinements of the law, then let me know
