    Hi all,

I once ran across a DT-related web page that had a list of bootleg dealers
and a little comment for each about reliability and such. I can't find that
    page now.

    Anyone know where it is?

    Thanks,

    1. Fade-outs

Mentioning fade-outs reminds me of old Dio. Every one of his songs
used to fade out. And how about "Blood Red Skies" by Judas Priest?
They cut off Halford in mid-verse! The cd cover has lyrics which are
never sung. That sucks. Another cool fade-out was on Lizzy Borden's
"Master of Disguise" album, which I would recommend to fans of groups
like Savatage, etc, because it has that concept/prog vibe to it. I think
the song was "Master of Disguise" or "Under the Rose" or something.
This cd can be found in the cheap bin for a few dollars.

    2. Promised Land and the missing definite object

I would most closely compare this phenomenon with, for example,
Disney Land. You don't say, "I am going to *the* Disney Land."
But, conversely, in the US we don't say, "I attend University of
Maryland" but, "I attend *the* University of Maryland." So, it can
be confusing because some english-speakers say things like, "go to
university" or "go to hospital." The *the* in most proper-noun locations
is just treated as a clarification tool. Like, if someone were to ask
to *which* Disney Land you were going, you would answer (fuck off, Mr.
Conditional Tense, one more time for good measure), "I am going to the
Disney Land in Florida." This works for personal names, too, except really
    pompous,
pretentious types like Donald Trump. He he. The Donald, my ass.

    3. New Mercyful Fate

This is much better than "Time." The new King Diamond comes out soon.

actually, i just got a doom full conversion that turns the whole friggin'
game into Army Of Darkness Doom. its fuckin' insane.. it starts out in the
old cabin from Evil Dead, where you gotta go get the chainsaw and
necronomicron, then you hit the time portal.. and as i said, everything is
different, the charactars, sound effects, graphics, music.. any Horror fans
    gotta check this out :)

now if someone did a full conversion DT doom.... wowow :) or even Duke3d
full conversion if possible... duke3d is a shitload better other than the
fact that theres no AOD conversion ;)

also, anyone notice how in Duke3d a whole shit load of his cool lines were
ripped off bruce C. in AOD?

    "groovy"

E-man, I hope you were joking about the fade-outs because there is one flaw
in your theory. Yeah, the sound man may fade all the instruments aout, but
the drummer, poor soul is still going. I only heard this once successfully on
a Genesis live CD, where they were playing Supper's Ready and the band fades
out, but I think they still land on a solid chord and let the volume drop
out. Then the crowd roars. But, the whole live fadeout thing is cheesey. ON
records, it can work, depending on how it's used. Anotther example of poorly
faded out songs is Different Strings on Permanent Waves from Rush. Fades out
right on the guitar solo, and it sounded like we should've heard more there,
doncha think? My philosophy is come up with an ending. Use fadeouts if you
have to on a studio song, because it's there and you can use it if you need
to, but don't fade out on somebody's solo, and for God's sakes, come up with
an ending live, because in my experience, the fadeouts live suck. E, I really
hope you were joking about that.

    Jam-sons,

In the Lemur Voice liner, the last two pages show the Magna Carta
catalog listing. The first page is primarily their tribute albums.
All of them list who the tribute is to except for, you guessed it,
Working man. It simply says 'A Tribute' whereas the other say 'a
Jethro Tull Tribute' or 'A Genesis Tribute'. What's up with that? Ya
think Rush's management had something to do with it or is it simply a
    typo?

    Enquiring minds want to know...

Excellant! I wasn't sure how big they were outside the UK, but I understand
that they were more popular in the US than over here. Gorilla actually live
very near to me (Derby, England), and the band I play in supported them at a
local gig last February. We've been to see them quite a few times now, and
our bass player bought Jim's bass when he left the band, complete with
flight case with The Beyond stickers on from when they toured the US.

For anyone who hasn't heard the band they are well worth listening to.
Their material seems to be getting heavier all the time and the two EPs
under the Gorilla name are a must. When we spoke to them a few months ago
there were plans for an album - I haven't heard anything since but I hope
that they do one soon! They're in the process of signing to Earache records,
so hopefully we should see something from them soon!

Got my promo copy of FireGarden or whatever Vai's new one is a few weeks ago, and haven been casually listening to it. Believe it or not, the greatest track on the CD in my mind is the one about his little weiner. That is the funniest shit I have ever heard on a CD. Oh, the instrumental stuff rocks, but the weiner thing is hysterical. Maybe I take the blind references in it too literally.

By the way, I did not go blind by playing with my weiner, thank you.

I just managed to get ahold of Lemur Voice, Shadow Gallery(CIS), and Altura, and I'm very impressed with all of it. I'm looking forward to many hours digesting this material, and I wouldn't have even known about it if it weren't for this list. Secondly, Marcel - you rock!! shit, that's some fantastic guitar work. Akasha Chronicles rules!! Great stuff from Brendt Allman too.. And the keys for Shadow Gallery are amazing.. Thirdly, am I strange or are there others on this list who could spend a blissful night with a case of beer and DT, Shadow Gallery, Lemur Voice, Altura, and Fates Warning spinning in the changer? Oh, and a guitar in hand for uncontrollable noodling =). >I'm glad Rush was trying to stop WM. Since they feel it's not time for a >tribute they obviously have more musical contributions to give to us

I really don't understand the hoopla over not allowing for a tribute album. I mean, these other artists wanted to pay *homage* to Rush. Bringing out an album to honor them in no way precludes any further works from the band. It's a way for someone to say, "Thanks for being an influence." To bring some DT content into this, wasn't that the point of the Ronnie Scotts "Uncovered" gig?

Hiya Kids@! Only 3 weeks before the con. ARE YOU EXCITED? Notes Of Interst:

    1) To those of you who still want copies of Kevin Moore's "Music Meant To Be Heard" demo, pleas e-mail me. I don't bite. :)

    2) I'm organizing a tape tree for the con. I'm open to any and ALL suggestions (since i have no idea what the fuck i'm supposed to do in the first place). E-mail me, and we'll work somethin' out!@

    3) I just got the new Godflesg record today. Whew!@ It's sweet.

    4) I like the number 4.

    5) I've been reading alot latley about Green Day, and i have my say on the matter:

Today at work I played DOOKIE on my cd player, and lemme tell ya, it rocked pretty hard. They're not flashy and they're not technical, but then again 3-chord punk never was. It's in your face music, and it comes accross. The boys had no idea it was gonna sell 6 million records. If it's good music, it's good music.

    so there. :)
